The Distance Education Center of the University of Szeged is one of the 40 study centers newly established through assistance from Phare.
The activity of the Center is mainly focused on delivering courses and developing study materials in three areas:
- language for specialized purposes, development of test bases
- ITC training and retraining
- Course material development and establishment of learning environments.
This latter activity is at present oriented toward vocational training of students and private entrepreneurs in the area of standardization and quality assurance (the ISO 9000 series).
Training over the Web is a new initiative launched in collaboration with the Enterprise Development Foundation of Bekescsaba, in which it is the Center's task to create the learning environment and provide solutions for just-in-time training and material development.
The Center has gained considerable experience in preparing language learning materials for users with access to electronic self-learning packages.
