Kaunas University of Technology (KUT), the largest technical university in the Baltic States, is the second largest institution of higher education of Lithuania. It contains 11 faculties, 12 institutes, 4 faculty institutes, 74 departments, 10 centres, 16 faculty centres, 23 research laboratories and 66 training laboratories. E-learning and Distance education development at University is lead by Distance Education Centre (KUT DEC). Mission of the Centre is to promote and develop higher and further education system supported by information communication technologies. Centre employs 25 persons of permanent staff and number of university teachers in different projects. Centre consist of three departments: Laboratory of Research in Educational Technologies, Department for Design and Methodics of DE Courses, Department of E-Learning Technologies, and Competence Development Department.
Distance education centre is a member of National Distance Education Association (NDEA), Lithuanian Association of Adult Education (LAAE), Nordic-Baltic Countries Distance Education Network (BOLDIC), Global Development Learning Network (GDLN).
